The first Cogito AI Day brings together companies, analysts and industry experts to discuss the real benefits and practical applications of AI today and tomorrow. Cogito AI Day will be held Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Hotel Magna Pars Space Event in Milan.

Cogito AI Day will open with keynote speeches from Forrester Research VP and Principal Analyst Boris Evelson and Expert System President and CTO, Marco Varone who will focus on how the market has evolved and the future of AI technologies.

We’ll also be talking about real applications of AI in the business world:
– Digital transformation in Insurance with Lloyd’s Chief Strategy Officer, Paolo Vagnone
– New customer interaction models with Intesa Sanpaolo’s Massimo Tessitore, Head Of Multichannel, Mobile Payment & E/M Commerce
– Using AI in customer service strategies with Fastweb’s Antonio Morawetz, Head of Consumer Customer Operations

The event will conclude with a roundtable discussion with Marco Varone, Boris Evelson, Maddalena Amoruso, Prometeia’s Head of Data Science and Rino Feduzi, 3M Italia’s Business Development Manager, Health Information Systems, Andrea Pietrasanta Generali Italia’s Head of Innovation Accelerator, moderated by journalist James Hansen. BORIS EVELSON

Vice President, Principal Analyst Serving APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT & DELIVERY PROFESSIONALS


Boris is a leading expert in business intelligence (BI). At Forrester, he helps enterprises define BI strategies, governance, and architectures and identify vendors and technologies that help them put information to use in business processes and end user experiences. Boris’ current research focuses on the practical and actionable best practices for building BI infrastructure and applications and emerging trends in next-generation BI. Boris has more than 30 years of experience with enterprise software and applications implementation, management consulting, and strategic advisory skills. Prior to Forrester, he co-founded Textra, a boutique strategic advisory firm serving IT users, vendors and investors. He also served as VP and strategic technology advisor at JPMorgan/LabMorgan, where he led many successful internal BI initiatives. Boris holds a degree in music education from the Moscow Gnessin School Of Music, Russia.

 


MASSIMO TESSITORE

Head Of Multichannel, Mobile Payment & E/M Commerce


Massimo has a wide experience in the banking sector, built upon an international academic background. After graduating in Engineering at the Politecnico di Torino, he started his career at Sanpaolo IMI. He then studied for a year at the San Diego University, California, before moving to Accenture and later to Oliver Wyman as Partner, in charge of the Retail Banking practice in Italy.
Joining Intesa Sanpaolo in 2012, as a member of the CEO’s staff, he directed the transformation program of the Banca dei Territori Division. In July 2013 he was appointed Head of the Planning and control, Quality, Control and Complaints Unit, where he guided the bank towards its multichannel evolution. Massimo is Head Of Multichannel, Mobile Payment & E/M Commerce since November 2014, where he focuses on retail banking and works on strategic projects that aim to reshape and innovate the way Intesa Sanpaolo serves its customers, around 11 million in Italy, including families and small businesses.

 


PAOLO VAGNONE

Chief Strategy Officer, Lloyd’s


Paolo is an insurance industry executive with more than 20 years of experience working in senior roles at some of the world’s largest banking and insurance groups. As the Chief Strategy Officer at Lloyd’s, he is responsible for the company’s strategy and change management programs, and is a member of the Lloyd’s Executive Committee. He joined Lloyd’s from The Generali Group where he was Head of Global Business Lines, a member of the Group Management Committee and chairman of Banca Generali. Previously, he was the CEO and General Manager of Italian investment funds Italfondiario and Torre SgR of the Fortress Investment Group. He began his career in insurance at RAS (today known as Allianz Italy) where he was General Manager and Managing Director. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors for several publicly traded companies (Pirelli and Unicredit) and as president of RASBank (today known as Allianz Bank Financial Advisors). Paolo has a degree in Electronic Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Turin, and a Master’s in Business Administration from the INSEAD Business School in Fontainebleau, France.

 


ANTONIO MORAWETZ

Head of Consumer Customer Operations, Fastweb

Antonio is Head of Customer Operations for the Consumer and Small Business Division of Fastweb; his responsibilities include Provisioning, Technical Customer Care, Commercial Customer Care and Retention and churn prevention. Antonio has over 20 years of experience in customer care and joined Fastweb in 2014. Prior to joining Fastweb he has been for 5 years Head of Operations for Comdata (a customer care outsourcing company). Prior to that he has worked for Vodafone (almost always in customer operations) in Italy, Germany, Spain and Group. Antonio holds a Master’s degree in Business administration and has studied Economic Theory at Bocconi University in Milan.

 

MADDALENA AMORUSO

Head of Data Science, Prometeia

Maddalena leads Prometeia’s Data Science Business Line, with the main goal of supporting financial services clients to exploit the full potential of big data through advanced algorithms, optimize core processes and build new digital business models. Maddalena has recently joined Prometeia after a successful experience in setting up and running the Generali Group Analytics Solution Centre, an international team of data scientists whose role was to transform Generali into a Data Driven Insurer. Before Generali, Maddalena has had a rounded career in developing analytical and CRM businesses for SAS and Microsoft, both in financial services as well as the telecommunication industry. Maddalena has grown up as a digital, CRM and data expert since her first move into telecommunication companies such as H3G and Wind. With a background in physics, in her own words Maddalena is now proud “to be back to systematically apply scientific approaches to business issues and be part of the digital and algorithmic revolution”.

 

RINO FEDUZI

Business Development Manager

As Sales & Marketing Manager of 3M’s Health Information Systems (HIS) Division, Rino is currently responsible for HIS business throughout Italy, with a focus on combining the marketing of core software with planning activities for the launch of new, innovative technology platforms in the world of healthcare information systems. Rino gained experience in various sectors of 3M, with positions of national and international responsibility, including personal protection and identification security with the application of biometric technologies and document security. After obtaining a Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Liège (Belgium), he continued his work at the European Commission’s Joint Research Center. He continues to focus on applying research and innovation to improve the quality of healthcare in his current role.

 

ANDREA PIETRASANTA

Head of Innovation Accelerator, Generali Italia

As Head of the Innovation Accelerator, Andrea is responsible for the implementation of innovative projects for Generali Italia. In this role, he is responsible for experimenting and applying innovative technologies in the business environment, including Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain. Andrea has a degree in Mathematics with a specialization in Probability and Programming. Before joining Generali, he worked at the Centre for Mathematical Morphology research laboratory in France where he focused on comprehension and image processing. In the Generali Group, he was part of the Internal Consulting unit until 2016, where he followed projects in various General Group companies in Germany, France, Ireland and Switzerland.

 

MARCO VARONE

President and CTO, Expert System

Marco, founder, president and CTO of Expert System, is one of the leading experts on semantic technology and natural language processing. He created the Cogito platform, which is the basis of all Expert System’s products. He has worked in the field application of semantic technology in every advanced context: search engines, text analytics, natural language interfaces, Q & A systems, automatic categorization and many others. He has led the company throughout its consistent growth and has helped Expert Systems to achieve major successes in various business sectors. He coordinates all activities of Research and Development and in his spare time, he writes about these issues on the company blog and his own blog, Semanticamente.

 

STEFANO SPAGGIARI

CEO, Expert System

For many years now, Stefano has led Expert System as CEO. His guidance has led the company to achieve a leading position, receive prestigious international awards, and establish itself among the top ICT companies in the world in the field of information management. He founded this company with the idea to develop software to support other companies with the analysis of information. Through the years, he has always carried out this idea with great passion and determination. Recently, Stefano successfully managed Expert System’s IPO and the company’s internationalization process. Stefano holds an EMBA from the Alma Graduate School of the University of Bologna, as well as a degree in Computer Science from the University of Modena, Italy.

 

JAMES HANSEN

Former diplomat and journalist

James Hansen is a former diplomat and journalist. After serving in the American Foreign Service in various capacities, he was posted to the American Consulate General in Naples. Remaining in Italy as a newspaper correspondent for the International Herald Tribune and the Daily Telegraph, he later became spokesman for some of the country’s best known business figures, including Carlo De Benedetti and former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, before being named chief of press of Telecom Italia. Today his company, Hansen Worldwide, advises Italian industrial groups on their financial communications and international relations. He has edited the geopolitical review East and currently directs the influential foreign affairs weekly Nota Diplomatica. He writes as well for Limes, Aspenia and other Italian papers, mostly about international relations and on themes relating to new technologies.
