Semantic Valley: an extraordinary content technology center comes to life in Trentino
December 11, 2009, Trento, Palazzo Geremia
Expert System, leading provider of semantic software that searches, discovers, classifies and interprets unstructured text information, announces its participation in “Semantic Valley”, a project which aims to bring Trentino to new heights as a center for content technology. The project shall be presented on December, 11 at Palazzo Geremia in Trento.
The convention will be moderated by Enrico Paglierini, a reporter for Radio24. Numerous speakers will illustrate the motives and the nature of this initiative – its main objective being the creation of a cutting-edge, technological center for semantics – a sort of “seal of quality” which gives value to the knowledge and the products developed in this sector.
In fact, the ambitious project involves numerous promoters such as: local government institutions (Provincia di Trento, Comune di Trento, Consorzio dei Comuni Trentini etc.), companies (IBM, Oracle, Loquendo, Expert System, Pervoice, etc.) and research centers (Università degli Studi di Trento, Cimec, Celtc…), all which share the objective to increase the know-how in written and spoken language content technologies in Trentino.
This afternoon (at 15:00), the event will kick off with Prof. Alberto Sangiovanni Vincentelli, Department Chair of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California at Berkeley.
The first session (from 15:15-16:00) shall discuss “The Trentino model of research and innovation: the semantic district to usher new economic development”. Numerous officials from the local government and representatives of Trentino research institutes shall take part, such as: A. Olivi, Council member(industry, craft and commerce) of Provincia Autonoma di Trento, F. Guarino, Executive Director of Servizio Università e Ricerca Scientifica, Provincia Autonoma di Trento, D. Bassi, Dean of Università degli Studi di Trento, and P. Mazzalai, President of Trentino Sviluppo and Vice president of Confindustria Trento.
The second session (from 16:00-17:00), “Headed towards the Semantic Valley” shares the experiences of research groups and companies (such as Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Expert System, Informatica Trentina, Oracle, etc.) which have distinguished themselves nationally and internationally for their level of technological innovation in semantics applied to research, initiatives and products.
For all those interested in participating, the event is free of charge, but registration is required: please fill out this form.
